Capetano Oil Limited is the legal data controller for Capetano Car Rentals, the trading name under which this platform operates.

1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, book a vehicle, or contact us, we collect:

  • Contact details: full name, email address, phone number.
  • Identity & license documents: a copy of your driver's license and a supporting ID document, which our staff review and approve before you can complete a booking.
  • Booking details: pickup/return dates and times, destination, selected vehicle and add-ons, and any notes you provide.
  • Payment information: we do not collect or store your card, mobile money, or bank details ourselves. Payments are handled entirely by our payment processor, Paystack — we only receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and a reference number.
  • Account activity: login history and basic technical information (browser/device type, IP address) used for security, such as detecting unusual login activity.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account and bookings.
  • To verify your identity and driving eligibility before confirming a booking.
  • To process payments and refunds through Paystack.
  • To send booking confirmations, reminders, and service-related notifications by email.
  • To respond to support requests sent through our Contact page or chat.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized account access.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties, and we do not use your data for advertising.

3. Who We Share Information With

  • Paystack — to process payments and refunds. Paystack has its own privacy policy governing the payment details you enter on their checkout page.
  • Our staff — branch managers and accountants involved in approving your documents, preparing your vehicle, and handling your booking.
  • Legal or regulatory authorities — only where required by Ghanaian law, such as in response to a valid legal request.

We do not share your information with any other third party for their own marketing purposes.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account and booking information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet our legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations (for example, records relating to a completed rental agreement or payment). Identity documents are retained only as long as needed for verification and booking-history purposes.

5. Cookies & Local Storage

We use browser local storage (not third-party advertising cookies) to keep you signed in between visits and to remember your light/dark theme preference. This data stays on your device and is used only to operate the site.

6. Your Rights

You can review and update most of your account information from your Profile page at any time. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we delete your account and associated data, by contacting us — see below. We will respond within a reasonable time, subject to any records we're legally required to keep.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls limiting which staff can view sensitive information — to protect your data. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time as our service evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.

9. Contact Us

Questions about this policy or your personal data can be sent through our Contact page.
